Matisse article

Hi guys, I'm going to share you the article that I just found about Henri Matisse work: http://entertainment.howstuffworks.com/arts/artwork/henri-matisse.htm

I selected this article because I really like Matisse's paintings and I wanted to know more about them and also about his biography.

I found a lot of information in this article because, as you can read, it speaks a lot about the use of the color, the artist's life and the critics reaction of his work in that time.

I think the most interesting thing I learnt about Matisse in this article was that he was not only a painter but also he experimented with drawing, sculpture and even graphic art! I really didn't know that!.

Well, I hope you enjoyed the article.

See you next week!

My new desk and computer

Hi guys, today I'm going to tell you about the new desktop I will buy and also about the desk that I'll buy too, because a need a good and nice one to put my new computer! Also I'll put the online store links, so I can show you the images of my new products!.

The type of computer that I chose is a desktop one, because I'll only use it in my house and if I ever need some documents from it I can send an email with them and open it anywhere. I only had US$800 for the computer and US$200 for the desk, so these are my choices:

- this is my desktop link http://www.overstock.com/US/es/Electronics/HP-19-2000-19-2011-All-in-One-Computer-AMD-E-Series-E1-2500-1.4GHz/8768657/product.html?refccid=62TJAH5YKVEJ4D2L2BETY4I74U&searchidx=232
So as you can see this is a really nice computer! I chose it because it has a lot of memory, it's an HP product and also because it comes already with the screen and keyboard, so I don't have to buy them too!.

- this is the desk I chose http://www.overstock.com/US/es/Home-Garden/Frommes-Dark-Brown-Espresso-Modern-Home-Office-Desk/8646488/product.html?refccid=3WDJDDMS6XH26UCFGWX3WSYQBY&searchidx=97
I chose it because I really liked the brown color of its wood and also because I think the simple and minimalist design will look perfect with my new computer.

I hope you liked my new desk and computer!

See you next week,

Vania.

My favourite piece of technology

Hello everyone! today I'm going to write about the most indispensable pieces of technology in my life: my cell phone and my laptop. Well the truth is that if I’m honest I must confess you that sometimes I can't imagine my life without them (and that's a little bit worrying haha). The thing is that my cell phone it's not just a simple little piece of black plastic with buttons (actually it doesn't have any buttons at all, everything is on the touch screen), it’s a Smartphone: a cell phone that it’s not only useful to speak with another person who is in another place but also has Wi-Fi access and sometimes mobile internet, a very good camera to take pictures and record videos, a music reproducer to listen my favourites songs and much more others functions like an e-reader for example. So you will imagine that I use my Smartphone for a lot of things all day! haha.

About my laptop I use it mostly to study, investigate, write and make power point presentations to my courses at the university, so it’s a very helpful and necessary tool in my daily studies.

What about you guys? Do you have any indispensable piece of technology that you can’t live without it? I’m waiting for your answers!

See you next week, Vania.

My subjects

Hi guys, I'm going to tell you a little bit about my subjects in this term. Well as you know this is my third year of the career, so now I'm able to decide more about what subjects would I like to take. In this context I have taken two seminaries: one of History and another one of aesthetic. Also I have taken two monografics subjects of patrimony and museum. I have to read, write essays and make oral presentations in all of these subjects, so it can be a little bit tiring sometimes, but naps help me a lot!

I'm also very happy because in this term I had the chance to postulate to a intership in the Contemporany Art Museum, so I did and they said yes! So I work there on weekends: saturdays in the morning and sunday afternoon.

Well I hope you enjoyed this post :)
please make me a comment!

See you soon!

Immigration

Hi, I'm going to tell you a little bit about what do I think about the immigration in Chile today.

Nowadays we see a lot of immigrants in Chile, or at least in Santiago. Peruvian mostly, with women working as maids and men working in various fields: in the food area as chefs, waiters, or as part of the kitchen staff. Also as workers in different kinds of services, like car cleaning, motoboys, sellers, construction etc. Well, there are so many jobs that peruvian people do in Chile that is difficult to mention all, but those were some of them.

There are also immigrants from other countries like Ecuador, Colombia, Bolivia, Haití, etc. And they usually work in the same jobs of the Peruvian people.

The thing is that sometimes immigrants don't receive the same salary as a chilean worker would receive, so they live in worst conditions, but they preffer that than live with even lower salaries or unemployed in their country of origin. This also cause that chilean employer preffer to contract more immigrants for more hours and paying them less.

But the immigration issue has a better part: it makes a more multicultural country and society, with different kind of people, food, customs, etc. and that's fantastic!

Well, see you soon guys and have a great weekend!

Friday, 28 March 2014

Hi guys, I'm going to tell you little bit about myself. Well, my name is Vania Montgomery and I was born in Chile in 1992, so if you calculate you'll see that I'll be 22 years old very soon! I have been living in Santiago all my life, so I was brought up here in the capital.
I think I could say that I've been a student almost all my life, because I started school at 7 years old and I finished it at 18 years old, so it was a very long time and then, almost immediately, I started college. Today I'm in my third year of Theory of Arts and I think that when I graduate from here I'll continue studying! so I believe that I'll be in the student category for a long time.

You can imagine that I have to study and read a lot but that's not an impediment to practice spinning, riding my bike and go to the cinema, which are my favorites hobbies. I also love to travel on vacations and that is what I'd like to do the rest of my life! My family it's a very important part of my life too, so I also try to spend time with them.

I'll continue writing here every week, so I'm waiting for your comments!

See you soon,

Vania.
