Hi, I'm going to tell you a little bit about what do I think about the immigration in Chile today.

Nowadays we see a lot of immigrants in Chile, or at least in Santiago. Peruvian mostly, with women working as maids and men working in various fields: in the food area as chefs, waiters, or as part of the kitchen staff. Also as workers in different kinds of services, like car cleaning, motoboys, sellers, construction etc. Well, there are so many jobs that peruvian people do in Chile that is difficult to mention all, but those were some of them.

There are also immigrants from other countries like Ecuador, Colombia, Bolivia, Haití, etc. And they usually work in the same jobs of the Peruvian people.

The thing is that sometimes immigrants don't receive the same salary as a chilean worker would receive, so they live in worst conditions, but they preffer that than live with even lower salaries or unemployed in their country of origin.This also cause that chilean employer preffer to contract more immigrants for more hours and paying them less.

But the immigration issue has a better part: it makes a more multicultural country and society, with different kind of people, food, customs, etc. and that's fantastic!
